Our little town

Well, I was out to the salvage to drop off some stuff and just had to take a picture of our little town on the way home. If my sister can add pictures to her blog, so can I.

It is hard to believe we are just a short distance from the "big city".

Just trying to figure out how much long it takes to upload a large jpg picture as to a small one.

Now I'm having trouble adding another picture so I guess I'll just post this and try again later. If it will post?

Well it posted. There was another window open under this one so I didn't seethat any thing was happening when I clicked the add picture. and it does upload a lot faster with the smaller picture.
The one on the 28 is behind our RV, 29 is looking towards Calgary, and the 30 is looking towards Okotoks. No snow yet!!

I'm sure there are a ton that I missed.
I'm sure not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
I'm not sure what I'm saying. It just gives food for thought. Where does it end?

Gone awhile but now I'm back. Rainy,cold and dreary around here. Think I'll go take some pictures just to prove it. Bye for now.

playlist

How to add playlist:

Note: As I was doing this I found I went down many rabbit trails and had to undo many things that I tried that didn't work and did something completely unexpected. There is also the possibility that you might have a older or newer version of the blogspot page so that might make a difference also

A. Go to playlist.com (I guess there are other websites that do the same thing but this is the one I tried.)
B. Sign up(you have to create a user name, password, etc)(make sure you write it down somewhere as you end up with many different user names and passwords and you need to differentiate between your blogger id, playlist id, email id, etc, etc, etc)
C. I find that my blog has so many different ids, user name, email address that I get confused sometimes. My blog is called “Field Newsletter”, you get to it by going to kfieldwfield@blogspot.com. I sign in by using my ken_field@yahoo email address with it’s separate password. It gets edited on blogger.com. Can anyone make sense of all that?
D. Click share my playlist (I'm assuming that you have created a playlist)
E. In the middle click “Get Code”
F. Then it asks you where to send the code, blogger, facebook etc., click blogger. It will ask for your user name, user id and password.
G.
1. Go to www.blogger.com/start, Sign in, (There should be 4 tabs postings, settings, design, Monetize.) Edit design

3. click On design tab, and you will be on default page elements. Click, add gadget, where you want the playlist to appear. Click html/java. Put in the name that identifies your playlist, ie youngergrama, eternityforme, etc. Click save.
4. I think if you sign out of blogger and then back in , the playlist should be there.
5. I hope I didn't forget any steps but that is the gist of it all.

I did it!!!

Raining cats and dogs so had time to play on getting the music playlist added to my gadgets. I'm going to itemize a list on what I did and then add it to my next blog so that you might add a playlist to your blog without spending 4 frustrating hours doing it. Bye for now.

I have been trying to add music to this blog and it is extremely frustrating as you almost need to be a programmer to do it. Persistence will will out I'm sure. Further post will let you know the procedure..

Spring Break

Spring Break

Well we're on the road but only made it as far as Inks Lake State Park. Really nice and quiet even though it is quite large. The weather is warm and the grass is green and the flowers are budding out. Life is good!

Packing up

Well the weather is just beautiful and here we are packing up to head a short ways north. Going to stay at a few state parks and soak up some sun before heading up to Nebraska. Been down here 6 months! Thought I would add a few pictures of the trees budding out around here. Looks nice.

Patience

Hi guys,
Been a week since I last posted something. WiFi has been spotty and intermittent for awhile so that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Heard about Brandy's (and Jade's) baby this morning. We're really excited for them(and for grandma)!! Wendy has been talking about the expectant baby for so long that I think half the park is waiting for the good news. Guess we better post it on the bulletin board!! Just yesterday we heard from Calgary about a dear friend passing away who has not been well for the 20 some years that we have know her. She was a Christian and looking forward to going home so it is kind of happy sad. Good cry. Strange phrases! Oh well.
I think we're getting a bit of winter here as it has only been in the 50's(F) for the last few days and down to freezing at night. I know that's nothing compared to what you Canadians have had to put up with but we're turning into wimps. Kind of cool and foggy today so will probably settle down with a good book until it is time to go swimming. Everyone take care. Love K&W

Texas Weather

Hi guys,
Well we had a downpour last night. Even had tornado watches as a front went through. We had a lake out front but it has disappeared now. You hear about ice and snow but that is hardly ever around here. We are far enough south that that weather always misses us. It sounded like a summer storm with all the rolling thunder. Texas is such a large state that they can get 15 inches of snow in Amarillo and we will be in a heat wave.

In 2 days my Microsoft Office 60 day trial version will be over and I'm wondering what will happen to all my documents that I saved in Word. A person gets frustrated with a new version of Microsoft in that you have to try and track down new driver software for all your old peripherals. (A peripheral is a device attached to a host computer but not part of it whose primary functionality is dependent upon the host, and can therefore be considered as expanding the host's capabilities, while not forming part of the system's core architecture.)(wikipedia) I haven't been able to print with my old laserjet and my searches for a new driver have been fruitless.

I try not to be down on all this computer stuff as I realize how nice it is to just sit down, and type, and hit send, and off goes a thought, request, musing, apology, encouragement, advice,etc, etc, etc. One thinks of our parents, grandparents and beyond that didn't have this almost instant communication. It was weeks, months and even years before they learned of news from loved ones. Having said that , thanks for keeping in touch. K&W

Dreams

Dreams

I’ve been having the most vivid dreams lately, when I can remember them. If I don’t write down a few salient thoughts about them, they’re gone. The mind is a marvelous thing. We watched a PBS documentary about the human mind and how it develops. It was very interesting. The mind is a marvel of God’s handiwork. It is hard to believe that some people still think we evolved some primeval ooze! I guess their answer is time. If a frog changes into a human (prince) in a second, then that is a fairytale. If a frog changes in a human in a million years (evolution), then that is science! (falsely so called!)(historical geology)
I find it amazing that I can see and do things in my dream that I have never in my life done before or even seen. It is also amazing to me how one scene can morph into a completely different scene and it still seems connected and reasonable. The other day I remember fly a helicopter on a rescue mission and I had to land it in a small meadow. The blades were just barely touching the leaves front and back. Boy, I was good! Then seamlessly it morphed into me training on a huge, and I mean humungous, seismic vibrator. It was bigger than one of the rock trucks at Fort McMurry. The vibrator I can rationally imagine but the helicopter is a bit of a stretch. Oh well just musing.

Texas History

Hi Y'all.  We went out to Camp Verde, just a dozen miles from Kerrville.  It originally was a post/fort for the south during the civil war.  Jefferson Davis set it up as transportation depot (experimental) with camels to suppy troops in the west.  Didn't work out too well.  Author Elmer Kelton, who resides just a few miles from here,  brings in the local history in many of his western sagas.  Not quite as good as Louis Lamour but is a very good read.

Nothing profound

Hi y'all. Just paid the rent so we're here in Kerrville, TX for another month. We didn't pay for cable this month and it seems more peaceful already. If anything important happens you can let us know. It was a sunny day in the mid70's so it seems that everyone in the park was out puttering and cleaning. We were no exception. It feels good to get things straightened up.


I always feel that I'm supposed to say something witty or profound or both when I do these blogs. Creative juices just aren't there sometime. I t does help on my typing skills though.


A friend in the park told us a story about a 4 year old at the doctor's office and the nurse let the little guy listen to his own heart beating with her stethoscope. He seemed really entralled with it all and after awhile he asked, "Is that Jesus knocking at the door of my heart?" I guess it is just that easy-we just have listen and open the door. (Rev3:20)



This blogging is a bit of a pain learning all the new settings. At least the computer warns me of mistakes I might be making if I decide to wander off some where without saving. I am a bit frustrated with this new Windows7 because if I want to print something out I'm stymied as my laser printer doesn't work with Windows7. You would think that Microsoft would be able to come up with some generic driver to do some basic printing without my having to go out and buy a brand new printer! I can get around it by saving it to a flash memory card then booting up my old lap top and then printing it with that hooked up to my old printer.
I think I am going top have to start working on the blogs in Word and then transfer them when I have intenet access. I had about another half page done last night when we lost our internet access and so lost whatever hadn't been saved by the automatic draft saving feature. Oh well. What I was suggesting was some internet sites that I thought we pretty good.
