Canning Red Pepper Relish

Our supply was almost used up, red peppers were on sale, we had peaches so I made Red Pepper Relish last night.  There is nothing like the smell of it cooking, and the snapping of the mason jars as they seal. The weather this week is supposed to be cloudy with showers but still warm.  They need rain around here so will not complain.  Have a good week.  TaTa

Day Trippen

It was supposed to be a nice day so we thought we would do a little day trip and check out a park north east of Boerne.  Total round trip was only about 120 miles.  Sun didn't burn through the clouds until we were about to leave but it was still warm.
There were even some kids swimming here.
Good looking couple

Love how some trees grow sidewards
St. John's catholic church

We finished off the day and split some catfish and fries.  (bottom crawlers but we don't do it that often).  It was a nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere but was quite busy for some reason.

Corpus and San Benito trip

Uss Lexington
USS Lexington in Corpus Christi
The above pictures were taken with my $8.00 camera.  I had used up the battery on my regular camera taking pictures of Harlingen, San Benito and Point Isabella (South Padre Island).  Couldn't buy batteries to fit my camera so bought a really cheap digital.  Seems to have worked ok.  Really enjoyed the tour of the aircraft carrier.  Lots of climbing up and down, walking decks and through hatchways, reading histories on all sorts of things, taking a virtual top gun run, climbing more stairs, more reading, dodging about 500 boys scouts and their parent who were going to overnight on the ship.  You can see why you don't see a lot of overweight sailors on an active aircraft carrier... too much climbing!!!!

Iwo Jima Memorial in Harlingen, Tx
This is the original plaster working model of the statue  for the Iwo Jima memorial in  Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.  Very impressive!

A home in a suburb of San Benito
I don't know if Wendy is standing beside a banana tree or something else. Notice the flower hanging down from the fruit.

Looks like some of the dandelions we have up in Alberta!!

Oranges anyone??
David on the beach
Well it was a nice break and the weather was beautiful.  What more can you ask for??

2012

Looking for what is in store for the new year.

Here it is......2012!  Resolutions?  Maybe not... just an attempt to lose some weight.  This gradual increase is annoying to say the least.  More walks, more swims, more exercise, less eating, more sharing meals when we go out, at least down here in Texas.  Such large portions!

The weather is fantastic.  Almost like California weather.  Well time for that walk.  Have a Happy New Year!!
