The garage is being made into a master suite and then we will put a car port out front. It is a good thing that the rest of the house is ready for the new directors. There are 2 big bedrooms already and everything has been updated although you can only do so much with a small bathroom. The master suite will be be nice when it is finished.
Gizmo says, "Where is that moving van??"
2 hours late but who is counting.
There I am on about trip 200!! Here's the new directors and son. Adam, Julie and little Issac. They've got a big job ahead of them. Pray for them. Well things to do.

Sad day on the Ranch
Well today I was sheriff, judge and executioner. I had a rooster that ran amuck. Pecking at the other roosters, hens and Freedom. Freedom (the one we've kind of adopted) doesn't bother anyone. He(the rabid one) was chasing Freedom all over the yard and wouldn't give it up. Not just a little ways but all over the yard! Well, I happened to see it when I came out of the barn after feeding the cat(Gizmo) so I jumped on my "Gator" and took off after them yelling at them to "Cease and desist". Well it was falling on deaf ears.(I'm not sure chickens have ears). As I roared up behind them, Freedom veered to the right just as Rabid noticed me behind them, hot on their heels(well they don't have heels but you know what I mean.) Rabid puts on a burst of speed now heading for the chicken coop and I've got my foot to the floor trying to get a few more rpm's out of the engine.
We're on the home stretch and I finally catch up and have to decide what to do. I'm sure Rabid is thinking he's Ichabod Crane and I'm the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow. Do I let it get in with the rest of the flock and then have to lecture it on being good and quit being such a bully. He won't listen, I've had this talk with him before. He "cluck, clucks" like he's repentant but he's not. I know he's not, he knows he's not. We'll just have to do this all again another time.
All these thoughts are going through my mind in a nano second. Enough is enough. We've got 20 chickens and they're only putting out 6 eggs a day. That kind of leads me to think we have 14 roosters and nobody needs 14 roosters.(especially crabby ones!) Guilty! Death!
I drove over it and it is now not with us any more. I think it was an object lesson to the rest of the flock as things seem to have settled down in the chicken coop. Not that they will be increasing egg production but will at least behave civilly.
I don't think I'll have trouble sleeping tonight. Justice was carried out.

Jackel
This would be enough to scare you into next week. It stands about 4 feet tall and would probably rip you to shreds. Sure glad we don't live in Africa!!!
Went to Fredericksburg today to do laundry and check out a few stores. Weather is nice.
Still working on new director's house, painting and glazing. Carpet and Lino should be going in soon. That will make it look like we are getting somewhere. Finished on not they will be here Thursday next week.

Our little town
This is what we see when we drive into town to check the mail. The Lutheran church is the first one of seven(different denominations) in the town of less than 1000.
This is the post office. The old one's front door stepped out onto the highway. It was considered an accident waiting to happen.
Right next door we have the proposed Harper International airport with a plane waiting to use it!
This picture is on the North edge of Kerrville 22 miles south of Harper. We go there to shop and visit as the local Valero quick stop doesn't have a really good selection. The town(Harper) does have a pretty good restaurant called "the Longhorn" and another BBQ place. It also has a library and a feed store and a taxidermy and several places to process your deer meat.
This the largest Mexican restaurant in Kerrville if you're into Tex-Mex. Well that is the end of this little tour. Stay tuned for our next little road trip.
