Not hard to take a good picture.

It was a nice day to take a walk and take a few pictures.  Tomorrow we may get a few showers.  We need them around here.  Bye for now.

Black Friday is over

Well I didn't go out at midnight to join the maddening crowd.  Went out at 8AM.  Didn't really need anything.  I did buy some  24 AA batteries at HEB for $9.98 with second one free.  I was thinking of getting a Brother laser printer for $50  but then I would have to buy a toner cartridge for $50.  I've gotten along without a printer for a couple of years so kinda gave up on that idea.  The weather is a little windy today but the sun is shining so have no complaints.

The Thanksgiving dinner had about 100 people there.  Wendy and Nelda led the singing of God Bless America.  The food was great.  We ate too much.  Everyone had a good time.  The only bad thing about eating out is that there are no leftovers for turkey sandwiches!!

Well that's about it for today.

Black Friday

Well it's only Thursday but it is American Thanksgiving.  We're going to a Thanksgiving Day meal at the clubhouse at 3.  This year we're taking Mincemeat squares.  It was a new endeavor for us but they turned out well so there goes our diet for this week.  With so many seniors in the park, there are quite a few dishes that are hard to pass by.  The weather is supposed to be in the 70's and sunny so no complaints.

As concerning Black Friday, we don't really need anything but I (not Wendy) am going out to watch the crowds sometime during the evening or early morning.  It's not like we need anything but I do like to watch the crowds(so long as it doesn't turn into a stampede.)  Is just hard to comprehend why people camp out in front of stores just to be the first in and save a few dollars.  Does not compute.  Well everyone have a good Thanksgiving and I'll end with this picture for all those geting in line for early shopping.

The leaves are falling down

This is a view out our dining room window.  Maintenance can't keep up with the leaves.  Temps are in the low 80's.  Really nice.  Big rain last night.  Sure was needed and felt good.

Here are a few pics from previous years.

This was a Macaw that visited our park in 2008 and 2009.

Time to get out and enjoy the sun.  TaTa.

Complicated technicalities

I was looking at my own blog and noticing that there are several steps that one has to do before you can really enjoy some of the pictures that we have taken.  First, you click on the picture which brings up that slide show view.  Then you have to right click on the picture that you want  a more detailed picture.  That brings up a menu and you have to click "view image".  Then if you place the cursor on the picture a + sigh appears which you click to finally get the full image.  Lately I've been downloading the full size pictures as it doesn't take that much more time in downloading and it is much easier than editing each picture to size it smaller.  Maybe if I moved things over to picasa it might be easier.
Then it is different if I'm running Google Chrome instead of Firefox.  I have to right click and open the picture in a different tab.  Things seem to move faster in Chrome but then I don't have all my bookmarks and such so don't always run Chrome.  I suppose there must be a way to do it.  Just haven't tried.
Oh well, that's my musing for today.  Have a good one people.

More Fall pictures

Lost maples
This is a picture looking west toward Kerrville.
Teasing them with a promise of food.

Actually these trees aren't dying.  They just turn this color in the fall.

Wendy on the Guadalupe River.

And there's Ken.
It's a little cooler today.  Only 63.  Really nice though.  Have a good day, y'all.

Lost Maples

It was a beautiful day so we decided to go for a drive and check out the fall colors.
We went out to Lost Maples State Park.  Not as crowded as the weekend.

Then we closed out our day trip at Billy Gene's for iced tea and a meal.  God is good to us.  Have a good day!

PoPo's

Went into San Antonio to visit friend in recovery.  Not doing too well but doctors and nurses are working hard and are hopeful of progress to good health.  On the way back stopped and had a meal at PoPo's in Welfare, Tx.  Great food and different atmosphere.

You gotta love plates!!  Well that was our day.  Hope yours was good also.

National Museum of the Pacific War

We went to Fredericksburg yesterday and I enjoyed the museum while Wendy perused the shops.  There is so much to see that they give you a pass that allows you 2 days of viewing.  It is really interesting and we will have to go back some time to catch the sections that I kind of just breezed through as time was getting short.

War is so stupid and is such a waste of time, money, materials and lives.  It mostly just produces grief.  Man's inhumanity to man.  And what for?  Mostly just greed and pride.  One year's enemies are next year's allies.  I can see the reasons for protecting yourself but so many lives lost is just hard to comprehend.
Well that's it for today.  We're off to San Antonio to visit a friend that is recovering from heart surgery.  Bye for now.

Fall colors

Thought it was time I posted a few pictures of the fall colors around here.  Not sure if everything is due to the cooler weather or just the dry conditions.  Any how it looks nice.
