Wednesday Hill Country trip

Nice home by the river (not ours!)

Well that was our little outing (about 180 miles) but it was well worth it.  That finishes up our tour of the 3 biker roads of 335, 336 and 337. (we probably should have borrowed a motorcycle but the car is so much nicer when it is 84 degrees).  Safe travels everyone.

Monday in the Hill Country

It was a little warm out, low 90's, but we decided to go for a drive and see how dry the country was around here.  We went south on 16 out of Kerrville to Medina, then west on 337 to Vanderpole and Lost Maples State Park, then over to Leakey where we stopped for coffee and peach cobbler.  North on 83, then east on 39 to Hunt, then Ingram, then back to Kerrville.   We only did 337 on this trip.   Highway 337, 335 and 336.Those 3 highways are what are called the 3 twisted sisters(strange name) which the motorcyclists just love.  Lots of hills, turns, lots of river crossings and great scenery.  I'll post a few pictures here now.

I bet the bikers don't slow down to this speed.

It was a nice trip (120 miles) and we took most of the day to do it with all the stops.  Good thing I filled up with gas yesterday as the price rose 12 cents to $3.35/gal. today.  Sure doesn't have much to do with the price of oil.  Well off today to do some visiting.  Bye

Sat. in Texas

This is a normal picture in rural Texas on a Sat. afternoon.  Everyone out having fun and enjoying the kids on their horses.

The girls were out warming up the horses before the competition.

Ride!!  Girl!! Ride!!  Lean into it!!  Lots of yelling and cheering!!

Just on the other side of the arena is is this quiet little park where some parents and kids were fishing.  It was a nice afternoon.   We had a little picnic, watched the fishing and watched the barrel racing.  It was a good afternoon in Harper, Texas.  It is really dry out here with lots of wells going dry and people having to haul water for their livestock.  The forecast is for several years of this drought.   Whoever is praying for dry weather, please stop!

Interesting trip

It was fun visiting in Nebraska.  The kids are so cute.  The formatting on this blog is so mixed up that I can't seem to do anything so I'm just going to post this and start over with a new one. It must be something I did.   Bye.

We're back again

Greetings to all who happen to wander by and to those who check in now and then to see what is going on in our life.
Been on the road for the last couple of weeks.  We left Kananaskis Country after the Sept. long weekend.
Sometimes it is so hard to get the mental juices flowing to update these blogs and say what is going on.  It doesn't help when the computer doesn't do what you think it should do and also when Blogger chages format on you and gives you all these different options.  Some I like but some I don't.  I do like the new "Flip Card " format.
I sometimes have trouble  adding pictures to the blog.  It seems like the picture just doesn't want to load and other times it just takes seconds.  Go figure!!!

This was a picture as we left the valley.
Now that pic only took a second to load.  Why?

Max learning the accordion.
He was quite enthralled with all the accordion artists  at the Polka-fest

Well we're down in Kerrville, TX enjoying the warm weather.  The pool is great and I'm really enjoying doing laps.  As we were coming down the land sure was dry as we entered Oklahoma and Texas.  Lots of places where you see where grass fires had been along the highway.   Doesn't  look like there is much rain is sight.  Not good.

Time for breakfast.  Bye.
